Cottage Pie Recipe Easy

Olive oil                       1 tablespoon
Brown onion                1 large chopped
Garlic cloves                 3 crushed
Lean beef mince          900g
Instant gravy powder 1/4 cup
Stock Beef                   1 cup
Tomatoes                    400g can diced, with oregano and basil
Potatoes                     1.2kg  peeled, chopped
Butter                         50g     chopped
Milk                             1/2 cup
Grated cheese            1/4 cup


  • Preheat oven to 180°C. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Cook mince for 8 to 10 minutes or until browned. Transfer to a bowl. Add onion and garlic to pan and cook for 3 minutes or until softened.
  • Return the mince to pan. Add gravy powder. Stir for 1 minute, add stock and tomato. Bring to the boil until thickened.
  • Boil the potatoes and drain. Mash until smooth. Add butter and milk. Stir until butter has melted and mixture is combined.
  • In a casserole dish put mince top with potato mixture. Sprinkle with cheese. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden.
